ScotPulse conducted fieldwork for The Worth of Water: Valuing the Health and Wellbeing Benefits of Blue Spaces in Forth Region, a new report published by Greenspace Scotland and authored by researchers from the University of Aberdeen, Greenspace Scotland and Public Health Scotland.

The study explores how people across the Forth region use and benefit from blue spaces such as rivers, lochs, canals and coastlines.

The research generated 767 responses from adults living across the Forth region, all sourced through the ScotPulse panel.

Results show that more than eight in ten adults in the region (84%) visited a blue space in the past year, with the strongest perceived benefits linked to improved mood, reduced stress and better mental wellbeing. The study also estimates that blue spaces generate substantial health and wellbeing value for the region.
